Add a simple Translate to your Craft Website

Have you been taking a look at your analytics lately and found out that you are reaching readers around the world? Is your craft website read by others who don't understand your language?

Today, we will do a quick run through for adding a simple translate option for your craft website.

I currently am running on WordPress—so what we will go over first is a plugin.

I have tried a few plugins —- ones that show flags on the sidebar.  Flags on the posts and pages… but let me tell you. It slowed down my craft blog. It slowed down the load page and that was a lot of flags!!!!  which ones to choose, show? The decisions!

The one that I have found to really like is the Google Ajax Translation.  For being a simple plugin it gives you a ton of control! I love that!!

you can choose:

* placement– top or bottom of page, post.  * which pages do you NOT want it to show on   * do you want flags? or just the word translate?   +  tons more

It also allows you to choose which languages to show.

How this works— you load it up, activate it, choose your terms and it is placed on your blog page.

Currently mine is showing at the top- I might be changing that.  The word translate is the only thing showing.  When you click this and choose a language from a drop down menu it translates only that post!!! I love that. It refreshes quickly and doesn't take a year to find all the words. Perfect for readers don't you think?

I have found it the best translator option out there.

For those who use blogspot I have found this :  google translator for blogger.  Take a look around there, it has all the info.

I am all for making it easier for international readers to enjoy and learn from your craft website.

Do you use a translater widget?  Let us know what it is…
